licht aus!
This project deals with the issue of light pollution. The book contains photographs from Basel and the surrounding area, which visualize the manifestation of unnatural light sources and the associated illumination of natural and urban habitats. The book resembles a Japanese binding in its approach. On the inside of the doublelayered book pages one finds short hidden texts that inform about the consequences and impact of light pollution. The idea with the double-layered pages and the hidden texts, was to symbolize how the negative consequences remain unnoticed behind the obvious advantages of artificial lighting. The design of the editorial book is kept dark in order to support the theme and message. The introduction aswell as conclusion texts are printed in black varnish on black paper and are therefore only readable in certain light situations.
„The world has become brighter and brighter in the last century.“
